The One Browser Trick You Should Know

In less than 1 minute from now you will be saving time everyday day.

While navigating the unending trees and branches of the Internet we often come across sites we would like to revisit. Remembering our way back to a site is nearly impossible. For this reason, we use Internet favorites to get back to the sites we would like to visit again.

If you’re like me, your ‘favorites’ have become overgrown and full of weeds, making the ‘favorites’ somewhat useless.

Try this trick: Once you arrive at a site that you would like to revisit, click and drag the site icon that appears to the left of the URL to your desktop (or any folder you prefer).

Internet Shortcuts

That’s it!

Now all you have to do is double click the icon and you are quickly brought back to the site.

You can spend less time fumbling through your “Favorites” and more time getting things done. If you don’t want this shortcut any longer, throw it into the trash.

Stop Wasting Time. Learn this ‘Favorite’ Trick

Windows Explorer, the file manager of Windows has a little known feature that is guaranteed to save you time and make you a happier person.

Favorites Star

If you are like everyone else, you use Windows Explorer to Open and Save files all day long, often times accessing the same drive and same folders over and over again. When you use the Save, Save As, or Open dialog boxes in almost any program you are using Windows Explorer. We also use Windows Explorer directly from the desktop when we open our hard disk, network drive or any folder.

The next time you navigate to a folder that you visit often (requiring many drill-down double clicks) ask yourself:

“Would I like to be able to get to this folder with only 1 click?”

If the answer to this question is Yes, then simply ‘Right Mouse Click’ on the group called ‘Favorites’ on the upper left side of the active Explorer Window.

Favorites

Select ‘Add current location to Favorites’ from the menu.

Add to favorites

After you add the current location to favorites, you will see the folder in the list under the Favorites group. You will never have to navigate to this folder again. Instead you are only one click away via your super short-cut Favorite!

Favorite Added

This Favorite is now available in any of the Windows Explorer views including your desktop or from within almost any application when you select Save, Save As or Open.

Are you happier now? I’m guessing YES.

The Windows Control Panel – Simplified

Everything

Do you long for that simple, alphabetized list of Control Panels we had and loved in Windows XP?

Everything was right there in front of you, organized alphabetically. Desktop, Mouse, Printers, Screen Saver… all in order and easy to locate. Then came the ‘categorized’ Control Panel :-/ Need I say more?
Here is a great trick to see EVERYTHING the Windows Control Panel has to offer once again (and more):

1.  Create a new folder anywhere you like (perhaps on your Desktop)
2.  Name the folder using the following text  (copy/paste works nicely – don’t type it for goodness sake):
