I’ll show you how to make your desktop 4 times as large as it is right now – for free.
Microsoft has a truck load of free utilities that can make your computer life more productive and fun. One of my favorite utilities is called “Desktops” which allows you to switch between 4 desktops with your mouse or a keystroke of your choice.
Simply download a .zip file from Microsoft, open the .zip file and run the Desktops.exe utility. While this small program is running you will be able to use 4 different desktops, effectively making you monitor 4x as large as it is now. The Desktops program is available for customization in your system tray on the lower right corner of your screen.
I set mine up to switch between 4 desktops with the key combinations Alt+1, Alt+2, Alt+3, Alt+4
This utility is for Windows 7 and Windows 8. Macintosh OSX already has this feature built in. Next week I’ll show you Mac users how to use multiple desktops too.
