Tom’s tip of the week – Week 22

Lightning Speed: Move Paragraphs and Bullets using Word and PowerPoint (No Cut and Paste Required)

If you would like to quickly move a paragraph in Word or PowerPoint:

1. Place you cursor in the paragraph you want to move (no need to select the paragraph’s text, although you can if you want to waste your time)

2. Hold down the Shift and Alt keys

3. Tap the UP or DOWN arrow keys (while holding down the Shift and Alt keys, see step 2)

4. Rejoice

This will move the selected paragraph up and down the document without the need to cut and paste. This is best used for short moves, typically within the same page or slide. Cut and Paste is still your best bet if you need to move text further than a few pages.
